Pet Safe SOP is an emergency preparedness and operational planning tool. It helps veterinary practices and animal shelters create, review and maintain their own emergency procedures, contacts, safe areas, critical-system information and hazard-specific response steps.

The content in your plan belongs to your organization. Pet Safe SOP organizes it and makes it available when you need it, including on paper and offline.

Pet Safe SOP does not replace:

• emergency services, fire, law enforcement or animal control;
• instructions from government, emergency management or public safety authorities;
• professional veterinary judgment or clinical decision-making;
• legal advice;
• regulatory, accreditation or licensing requirements;
• your organization's own judgment and decision-making.

If immediate life safety is at risk, call 911 or your local emergency authority first.

Your organization remains responsible for its emergency plan, its decisions, its staff training and the actions it takes during an emergency. Pet Safe SOP presents the information your organization has recorded; it does not decide for you.

Information entered into Pet Safe SOP — contacts, phone numbers, safe areas, partners, systems and procedures — should be reviewed for accuracy and kept current. Out-of-date information can be misleading during an emergency.

Pet Safe SOP is in a controlled beta. Features may change, be added or be removed, and you may encounter errors or incomplete areas. Please keep a printed or offline copy of your plan available and tell us when something does not work as expected.

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential and for the people you invite into your organization. Access to an organization's information is controlled by membership and role.
